After completing my Bachelor’s degree at Illinois State University (UIUC) in USA, I got into the MS-PhD combined program at UNIST BME. I was fascinated by the world-class research infrastructure, English-based classes, and the global research activities in the Department of Biomedical Engineering. As Biomedical Engineering bridges the medical and engineering disciplines based on interdisciplinary research, I enjoyed incorporating the knowledge of electrical and electronic engineering from my , into the biomedical field. During my doctoral course, I was able to access a wide range of knowledge such as life/medical, optics, control, and software. Also, I had chance to learn AI, which has recently been in the spotlight before graduation. Starting a company with my advisor, Prof. Woongkyu Jung, I was able to gain experience in applying and developing academic knowledge in professional practice. My experience in education, research, and entrepreneurship during my degree program helped me a lot in developing creative problem-solving skill and broaden my perspective. It became my inspiration to be a good researcher. After finishing my Ph.D. degree, I am currently working as a researcher at Samsung Research.
