A public lecture series in celebration of Brain Awareness Week 2023 will be held at UNIST on March 17, 2023.

Held under the theme of ‘Learning Brain, Changing Brain,’ this lecture series will feature scholarly talks that shed light on current and ongoing research topics related to brain science, particularly in the fields of neuroscience, cognitive science, and brain engineering. These lectures have been delivered by professors within the Department of Life Science and the Department of Biomedical Engineering at UNIST. These lectures, which are free and open for all members of the public, staff and students to attend, are one of the ways UNIST engages with local communities, sharing research and its relevance to everyday lives.

The Brain Awareness Week is a worldwide celebration of the brain that brings together scientists, families, schools, and communities during the third week in March. Participated by more than 7,300 partners in 120 countries, the purpose is to increase public awareness of the progress and benefits of brain research. Hosted by UNIST, this is the first Brain Awareness Week lecture series, held in Ulsan Metropolitan City.

The theme of this lecture series began with curiosity about “How does the brain learn and develop about the world.” It will cover various learning principles, ranging from biological principles of how the brains of some animals, such as the snail learn, how human brains see the world, and how they move our bodies, make decisions, and learn to study.
